Exercise relieves my Stress(with a big S!)
Working out benefits my mind as well as my body. Physical activity boosts my mood and lowers my stress hormones.
Strengthening my body makes me more resilient. I reduce my risk of illness.
I feel happier and more relaxed when I move
around.
Here are some other reasons I work to make exercise part of my regular routine.
Exercise also burns calories and keeps me fit. I avoid the negative side effects that come from trying to soothe myself with
activities like emotional eating or retail therapy.
I have many options for winding down and working out.
I visit the gym. I can work with a trainer or sign up for group fitness classes. Socializing with others makes my routine more fun. I enjoy some small talk and laughter. I share encouragement, moral support, and form tips.
I can practice yoga at home or a local studio. Breathing deeply and moving deliberately calms minds and tones body (still working on that part!).
I spend time outdoors. Fresh air and green spaces lift my spirits and give me energy. I've rented a kayak and have gone for a run in the park. Even yard work has worked at times for me to relieve my stress. It's like getting a fresh cut from the barber!!
I play as much as my body allows. I throw a football around in the street with my children, play basketball at the park or gym with them, or workout in the garage. We help each other de-stress, stay connected, and on our goals.
I dance to the beats that my sons produce.
https://open.spotify.com/album/6hVEPj6Uzj4Fnc1eIZB1V4?si=-e-HrpYWQ3q47hkVcC1kFA . Their songs dissolve my tension and get me ready for the day. I move with less effort when I workout and enjoy the happy memories we make.
Today, I take a positive approach to managing the stress in my life. Physical activity has been a success in helping me relax and unwind.
